Absolutely fantastic staff and central location! Facilities were fantastic and the location makes it perfect for travelling within and out of Brisbane! Self contained units were exceptionally clean and contained everything needed for a short or long term stay!! Cannot recommend enough! Will be my go to when I visit Brisi!

Whole building evacuated at 4am and was told by residents it happens all the time. Smoke detector in bedroom was covered with plastic bag and elastic bands. Fire-fighters said fire alarms on my level (level 7) are now not working.
Filthy carpets and curtains, shower not cleaned from previous booking. Seemed to be blood droplets on bathroom counter.
Check-in is bizarre as reception is never open, not even during normal/typical check-in times. I was only given one key and this created safety problem... took four numbers to find someone to answer phone - remote assistance from a rude and angry receptionist who yelled at me. I ended up in tears and only when begging could I get someone to help get me a key.

Our room wasn’t as advertised. It was old, run down and filthy. The floor in the kitchen had bubbles and warped, the carpet was old and worn and covered in stains. The reception mentioned that the stains were bad, however, the owner refuses to pay to fix them. There was no offer of upgrade or discount. Instead I was offered a full refund and told I could go elsewhere, only problem with that, it was NRL magic round so every room around town was booked! The room had a musty smell and in desperate need of a deep clean. We refused to sit on the lounge as it was old, worn and had stains. The bathroom was woeful, that bath which doubled as a shower needs a good scrub. The air vent in the bathroom was filthy and covered an inches of dust.
Please look elsewhere and don’t make the same mistake we did! Don’t be fooled by the outdated photos on their website and travel sites. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and small, as were the pillows. The blinds were dusty and stained and didn’t close properly. There were a constant stream of emergency service vehicles outside the window with their sirens going. The room over looked the rail works so it was noisy with the construction.
The fire alarm went off very late one night, had it been an actual emergency, we wouldn’t have escaped in time, as the alert couldn’t be heard clearly from the bedroom.
We didn’t enjoy our stay at Abbey, and would definitely not recommend it to anyone.
    Disappointing is an understatement!

As our train from Sydney to Brisbane arrived at 4:00am, we paid for the previous day so we could get into the building at that hour. (No receptionist at that hour.) You ring a number shown on the front door and someone gives you a pin code that opens the main front doors and then allows you to access your room door key.
The pin code however didn't open the doors. The lady asked us to try again. We gave it 4 more attempts. It was clearly the incorrect pin.
The lady said the caretaker would be there in 20-25 minutes.
An hour later he arrived. His story was that he had been pulled over by the police. Mmmmm.
At 4 in the morning, after a long train trip without sleeping, we were not impressed at all.
Later, the guy told us that he tried the pin number and it worked. Mmmmm.
Too bad we were not there to witness that.
We paid $1600 for our 10 days.
I wanted some compensation for the inconvenience and the caretaker eventually offered us $20.
And wine, the white was was...well on the label, I wrote two words, "Cat's Pi**."
The room.... filthy carpet in the bedroom.
    The bedroom light didn't work.
The bathroom basin was partially clogged.
    The electric jug didn't work.
The powerpoint in the bedroom was on the bottom of the wall, behind the middle of the bedhead. Getting my power cord into it was a task!
A box of tissues would have been a nice touch. None. No dishwashing liquid. No egg flip. We also had to ask for garbage bags, and after 6 days we were still using the one towel each and the one bath mat between us.
I took my request list down to receptionist. I gave the joint two stars only because the young receptionists, Kristy and Shayla were so understanding and helpful.
    The other pros:
The location (although very shortly huge construction work will be recommencing on the Roma Street train terminal and it will be noisy.)
    The cafe down stairs.
Plenty of hot water. That's it.
The apartments, I was informed, are owned by individual investors. So hence the approach to guests needs.
We thought Brisbane is a great city.
    We really enjoyed it.
Too bad about the accommodation though.
    I couldn't recommend it.

Very close to Roma St Station, so that's a plus, but does mean very noisy (sirens, thousands of people walking past (loudly) to go to/from big games, construction noise, etc.). Very unattractive views (construction sites). Room itself very dire (one of the unrenovated rooms). Had booked again for a month later, but have now cancelled and booked elsewhere. Hotel website said they had a hot tub. Definitely no hot tub (double checked with staff). Issues with room itself: super old and run down, and not very clean. Carpet so stained that we refused to take our socks off the whole stay. Toilet ran noisily, so we had to turn off the water to it overnight, to sleep. One side of cupboard in bedroom was jammed shut (nowhere to put your bags), and iron is in there (luckily not a work trip, so nothing to iron!). Plug didn’t fit sink, so difficult to wash the dishes. Long black hairs all over bathroom floor (we don’t have black hair or long hair!). Makes me very nervous that if even basic cleaning (vacuuming) isn’t being completed between guests, that there would be no COVID measures in place. Paint peeling off walls, tiles missing, just everything damaged and old. No smart TV or even Foxtel (or equivalent). So much dust/grime on aircon vents that we weren’t game to turn the air-con/heating on. Have photos of it all, but just so bad. Spent months in caravan free-camping and low-key caravan parks, plain and simple is fine, but dirty and in ill-repair is not! Would not pay anything to stay!

High volume, high turn over, bare bones accommodation, low customer service model. Online bookings are a drama, followed by confusing and unnecessary demand for payment upon check in. Too many rules on if you do this....$$$ extra payment, if you do that.....$$$ extra payment. The rooms are adequate and the location is convenient but there are Airbnb properties managed better, with less payment issues. Suitable for last minute and emergency accommodation only.
